from over 3,000 reviews "JBL ProFlow sf u800,1100,2000
Quick filter cartridge for JBL ProFlow pumps
- Filters quickly and effectively all turbid substances from the aquarium water
- Simply attach the cartridge to the intake of the pump (fits JBL ProFlow u500, u750, u800, u1000, u1100, u2000)
- Water-neutral foam that does not release pollutants into the water and filters mechanically and biologically
- Cartridge dimensions: 25 mm hole for suction basket, 17x7 cm (widest part)
- Scope of delivery: 1 foam quick filter cartridge with strainer inner tube
Purpose of use:
- quick filter: If dirt has been stirred up after work in the aquarium and the dirt is to be filtered out quickly to relieve the actual filter
- protective function: If the JBL ProFlow pump is used in the aquarium, e.g. as a flow pump, it has a strainer on the intake. This could be too coarse for young fish or very small shrimp. With the foam cartridge, the suction is distributed over a larger area and even the smallest animals cannot be sucked in
- Filter support: If the actual filter does not result in really clean water, it can be supported by using JBL ProFlow pumps and the rapid filter cartridge.
Cleaning:
For many months it is sufficient to rinse the dirty filter sponges under lukewarm running water and then, before using them again, inoculate them with filter bacteria (JBL FilterStart). However, since mechanical cleaning NEVER results in complete cleaning and dirt will remain in the filter sponge, it is recommended to replace the filter sponges about every 6 months. If you place a freshly cleaned filter sponge overnight in a glass of clean water, you will be able to smell the next morning how much dirt is still present in the supposedly clean sponge!
Biological inoculation:
An initial colonization of filter material with cleaning bacteria takes about 1-2 weeks in freshwater, and twice that time in seawater. If the filter material was already in use, the time of a "recolonization" doubles, because on dead bacterial lawns a recolonization does not take place so easily. The addition of concentrated cleaning bacteria such as in JBL FilterStart shortens the biological start-up time to about 24 hours. Another reason is to populate the existing settlement space in the filter material with beneficial bacteria, so that pathogenic germs find no place to spread.
