from over 3,000 reviews "Fissidens fontanus is also called phoenix moss , because its filigree fan-like soft "fronds" almost remind of a phoenix. Visually, its appearance clearly distinguishes it from other mosses and it has been known in aquaristics since about the end of the '90s. Thanks to its compact growth it is especially suitable for aquascaping, where it gives the hardscape a great depth effect and a dark green eye-catcher.
Fissidens fontanus is not necessarily more demanding in the aquarium than other mosses, but develops magnificently especially in soft water aquariums with very good lighting and a good supply of nutrients . Especially the supply with a NPK fertilizer, but also with CO2 has proven to be advantageous. Nevertheless, it can be maintained just as well in hard and cold water tanks. With a rather mediocre supply of micro and macro nutrients, however, it not only grows more slowly, it also loses its rich green color and the individual shoots develop rather wider.
Propagation can easily be done by plucking. The fan-like split shoots attach themselves to the hardscape with adhesive sh oots and continue to densify from there. Smaller gaps caused by plucking are quickly closed again. Above all, tying on has proven to be more effective than gluing on. Our moss pad has a size of 8x8 cm and can be optimally placed in the foreground to middle ground of the aquarium.
Especially shrimps like to use the moss pad as a grazing ground, but also as a hiding place, so create a great shrimp playground with the Fissidens fontanus, whose green harmonizes wonderfully with your colorful animals!
Size: 4x4 cm
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
