Handmade shrimp tower is made of dark brown ceramic. It has several layers of open front and back tubes. On the top plate was professionally tied java moss(Vesicularia dubyana). The shrimp tower is made in Germany and comes in different sizes.
The tubes offer shrimp and dwarf crabs a good hiding place and a safe retreat especially after molting. Also pregnant females take the hiding places very gladly.
Shrimps like the additional grazing grounds created by the java moss. Biofilms settle here, and detritus also accumulates, which is also readily eaten. Useful pollutant-degrading bacteria like to use the rough surface of the ceramics and the Java moss itself as substrate and do their beneficial work there.
From time to time the Javamoos should be shortened a little. This can be done very well with standard scissors. The cut shoots can be tied back onto roots or stones.
