When breeding fish, it is more common that other fish, but also the parents, chase their own offspring, so that raising the young in a fish breeding box is recommended. Especially when breeding livebearers such as guppies, mollies, but also platies or swordtails, the number of surviving young animals can be optimally corrected upwards.

A rearing box is optimal if it can be placed in the same aquarium as the animals live in, so that expectant mothers are not unnecessarily stressed by having to get used to different water values. The two lower chambers offer the young animals protection and refuge from voracious mouths. The center strut can be inserted as needed, but can also be used without, giving a single female more room. The box is completely covered with the enclosed fine mesh so that the young cannot escape. After spawning, all the intermediate plates can be removed, as well as the mother, so that the young have all the space they need to grow up. However, remember to clean this regularly as well.
