Echinodorus palaefolius var. latifolius belongs to the species of marsh plants. Characteristics are round leaves with a horizontal leaf base. It originates from Brazil. In the aquarium the leaves become narrower and the plant easily grows out of the water. This can be prevented by removing the long leaves that are almost at the water surface. This will make the next leaves shorter and the plant will remain submerged. In open aquariums, it can be allowed to grow above water, but the leaf edges often dry out when humidity is low.
