From Madagascar comes the large Genoppte Wasserähre or Boivins Wasserähre(Aponogeton boivinianus). In the aquarium it still becomes to approx. 65 cm. Its long, bottle-green, strongly knobbed leaves are slightly transparent and set beautiful accents in the background or as a solitary plant.
In nature, Aponogeton boivinianus is found in cool and shady waters that dry out seasonally, to which the plant responds by going dormant. If the great pondweed stops growing in the aquarium or even retracts its leaves, it needs a resting phase. This should last about 4 weeks. During this time Aponogeton boivinianus should be kept in a cool and dark place. After that you can put the tuber back into the aquarium, where it will soon sprout again.
Here you get a strong tuber, which sprouts quickly when planted in the aquarium. Please do not cover completely with substrate!
