Bucephalandra sp. "red mini" is a rare, small remaining Bucephalandra from Borneo. In nature it grows partly submerged, partly above water, often in splash water along fast flowing streams. Bucephalandra "mini red" has dark green to brown-red leaves that appear reddish when sprouting, and is dotted with countless tiny bright spots.
Bucephalandra is a typical perching plant and prefers hard substrate such as wood or stones, where it quickly finds a foothold with its adhesive roots. The different varieties are highly sought after by collectors.
Until it is firmly grown, it can be fixed with the help of nylon cord or with a drop of superglue (cyanoacrylate-based) or with special plant glue for aquaristics. Buce forms a rhizome, which is a solid rootstock that grows creeping along the hard substrate. In this way, the plant slowly grows larger and larger.
Collectors plant each Bucephalandra species separately on a rock. Some use glass Plant Pods attached to the aquarium glass with a suction cup to attractively display their collection.
Bucephalandra "red mini" grows slowly and reaches only 4-6 cm in height. This makes it ideal for keeping in nano tanks and also in breeding aquariums. The stones or roots on which it grows can be easily removed from the breeding aquarium if you want to catch animals out.
Bucephalandra sp. "red mini" copes very well with low light or in the shade of higher plants. It does not need CO2 fertilization and does not need regular plant fertilizer, although it will grow a little faster with a steady supply of nutrients and carbon supply.
You canpropagate this buce by simply cutting off a piece of rhizome about 2 inches long with two to four leaves and replanting.
Bucephalandra sp. "red mini" can also grow above the water. It blooms both under and above water. This Buce is perfect for waterfall aquariums, flowing aquariums, stream aquariums, aquaterrariums or paludariums , where it comes into its own at the border of water and land.
Here you buy a Bucephalandra sp. "red mini" from laboratory breeding in an InVitro cup. It was raised sterile and brings no surprises in the form of co-inhabitants or pesticides. Simply rinse off the nutrient and tie on.
Our recommendation: for magnificent plant growth, we recommend the Premium Nutrient Substrate when setting up a new plant: NatureHolic GroundBooster
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
