Creeping Staurogyne - Staurogyne spec
An attractive newcomer from Brazil is the hogweed Staurogyne repens. Its appearance is somewhat reminiscent of a "miniature hygrophila", but it is an excellent plant for the foreground. It grows very slowly, even creeping over the substrate in good conditions. Staurogyne needs intense light and a good supply of nutrients above the substrate. If you regularly prune its shoot tips, the plant will sprout with many, new side shoots and you will get a very nice dense plant stand. In "aquascaping" this beauty combines very well with Hemianthus callitrichoides.
