Shrimpshelter - hiding place for shrimps and crabs

The handmade shrimp shelter is made of brown ceramic fired at very high temperatures. This pretty little cave is therefore absolutely water neutral and water stable. There are no sharp edges here. The embossed structure looks very natural and the Shrimpshelter fits almost seamlessly into almost any aquarium design.

Shrimps and, of course, dwarf crayfish can hide perfectly in this cave, which is open at the front and back. This is especially important during and after molting, when crustaceans need a retreat where they can let their new shell harden in peace. Sufficient hiding places significantly reduce stress in the aquarium and can thus ensure healthier, more stable animals and also a higher number of surviving offspring.

Moss could be attached to the outside surface, for example, but the pretty structure doesn't really need to hide. Here biofilms, which contain useful filter bacteria, can settle preferentially. This not only provides the dwarf shrimp with additional grazing grounds, but biofilms also ensure good water values - after all, they break down pollutants.
