Vesicularia dubyana "Christmas" is a rare moss from Brazil. It differs from regular Java moss by its fir frond-like, branched growth habit. It grows slower than regular Java moss and also seems to be a bit more demanding.
Vesicularia dubyana "Christmas" can be tied up optimally and develops dense, branched cushions. But it also works well as a groundcover in the foreground. It roots readily on wood and stones.
From time to time, the cushions should be trimmed into shape so that they retain their compact growth habit. Vesicularia dubyana "Christmas" can be propagatedby simple division.
This moss comes from meristem culture, i.e. it was grown in vitro in the laboratory. Therefore it is free from pollutants, algae and pests of all kinds and does not have to be kept in quarantine before it is allowed into the aquarium. Only the clear gel containing nutrients should be rinsed off beforehand.
