from over 3,000 reviews "With our ammonium/ammonia and phosphate adsorber you can ensure optimal water values and prevent excessive algae growth. Especially during the start-up period of new aquariums, ammonium-degrading bacteria are not yet fully developed, so that problems may occur. But also in older tanks food remains, dead plants, excrements and also dead animals lead to the formation of ammonia and phosphate, which in turn is toxic for the animals kept.
Basically NH4, NH3 and PO4 are plant nutrients, but most of them are metabolized by bacteria. If plants are missing as "nutrient eaters", depots can quickly develop which become dangerous for the aquarium occupants, but also support algae growth. Therefore, the water values should be checked regularly with a suitable water test in order to be able to take measures in time.
In order for the application of the adsorber to be successful, you should check all potential causes in the aquarium beforehand and remove them if necessary.
Add the Phosphate Adsorber with a filter media bag to a well flowed place in the aquarium filter. Before and during use, measure the water values with a suitable water test, such as those we carry in our store, and replace the filter medium if you notice a renewed increase. Once phosphate has been absorbed, the medium retains it and does not release it back into the water. Due to the increased surface of the granulate, pollutant-degrading bacteria are also offered an optimal settlement area, so that they can reliably start their work already in the filter.
