Enchytraea (Enchytraeus albidus) or white worms are few borers. These - as the name suggests - white worms can grow up to 4 cm long. They are a very good food for small to medium sized fish and they are also suitable as live food for dwarf shrimps, young crayfish, large crayfish and also for dwarf crayfish from North, Central and South America, Australia and Europe, for small to medium or large crabs and also for large arm shrimps due to the fact that they sink immediately and do not swim away.

Enchyträen are small nutrient bombs, they provide protein and fat, but not much fiber. For this reason, they should not be the sole food, but they do provide a great, nutritious variety and are easy to breed.

If you want to provide your aquarium inhabitants with the enchytraea in a timely manner, you can simply store the sachets in the refrigerator. If you have ordered a larger quantity, it is best to transfer the worms into a larger container with fresh water, the lid of which you only put on loosely. This container also goes into the refrigerator for storage .

Breeding enchytraea is simple. All you need is an ice chest or other shallow container that you fill halfway with seramis or moist soil. Feed enchytraea with oatmeal or pieces of moist toast. A glass pane placed on top, where the worms gather, makes it easier to remove them.
