Mucous membrane injuries are actively prevented, because this substrate has a coarse-grained and rounded sand, which is also suitable for very active bottom diggers such as rays, thorn eyes and catfish. Likewise, the "River" is super suitable for aquascaping and decorating. Its large surface area also provides helpful bacteria to colonize and multiply.
With a grain size of 0.8 mm, the Zanzibar River can also be combined with other gravels and is optimal for fish, invertebrates and plants, as it does not release any unwanted pollutants into the water and is a pure natural product.
We recommend the use of a long-term nutrient substrate, as we also have in our store. In addition, the Zanzibar River can also be used with a floor heating cable . This consideration should be taken into account before setting up a new plant, as you will not be able to install it afterwards without considerable additional effort. The improved plant growth will speak for itself, and algae growth will also be inhibited.
We recommend this substrate setup:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of gravel/sand.
Before first use, the sand should be washed out several times with cold water to remove abrasion caused by transport.
