TGA Tylomelania mini Black - Tylomelania towutica

The small remaining water snail Tylomelania Mini Black or Black Mini Tylomelania from Sulawesi / Indonesia has not yet been scientifically determined and is therefore called Tylomelania towutica "Mini Black". This great, smaller remaining snail for the aquarium becomes only about 3 cm long and remains thus very much smaller than other Tylos. Their black shell is typically sculptured. The black body of the Tylomelania Mini Black is speckled with small bright spots. Some Tylomelania Mini Black have a whitish discoloration in the upper third of their little house due to natural wear. This wear does not harm the Mini Tylo Black in any way.

The Tylomelania Mini Black is separately sexed, meaning there are female and male snails. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible to distinguish the sexes based on external characteristics, so a group of at least 5 snails should always be used for successful breeding. This way there is a higher probability that both sexes live in the aquarium. The females of the Black Mini Tylomelania give birth to live young - always one at intervals of several weeks. The young Tylomelania sp. "Mini Black" develop in the brood pouch of the mother and are viable after birth. They do not go through a larval stage, but can grow up in the freshwater aquarium without any problems. They can grow up with their parents in the aquarium. Special care is not necessary as long as sufficient biofilms and micro growth are present in the aquarium.

The Tylomelania sp. Mini Black is also suitable for nano aquariums, because it stays much smaller than other Tylomelania. It is a very peaceful and interesting snail for the aquarium. It is perfect for association with Sulawesi dwarf shrimp, but the Mini Black Tylo can also be kept very well with other dwarf shrimp and also with small to medium sized peaceful ornamental fish in the aquarium. Snail eaters such as predatory snails, snail eating fish, crayfish, dwarf crayfish or crabs are of course not suitable as aquarium company for the Tylomelania Mini Black.

The Tylomelania sp. "Mini Black" is an omnivorous aquatic snail that eats dead plant parts, vegetables, green food, frozen food and food scraps in addition to growth. A particularly suitable food for these aquarium snails are the special snail feed from NatureHolic.

The Tylomelania Mini Black can be kept in the aquarium at a wide range of water values. As long as the water is warm enough at 22-30°C, medium hard to hard and neutral to slightly alkaline in pH, the Tylo Mini Black will feel comfortable.
