from over 3,000 reviews "The water snail Tylomelania Yellow Spot or Yellow Spot Tylomelania is a not yet scientifically identified Tylomelania species from Sulawesi / Indonesia, which can be kept unproblematically in the aquarium. It is also called Tylomelania sp. "Yellow Spot". This great aquarium snail grows to a length of about 6 cm. Its black snail shell shows the sculpturing typical for Tylomelania. The body of the Tylomelania Yellow Spot is black and covered with many yellow spots. On the snout, many Yellow Spot Tylomelania show a yellow fringe. Their antennae are yellow with fine black stripes. Some shells of Tylomelania Yellow Spot are discolored whitish in the upper third, which is due to natural wear. These discolorations do not harm the snail.
The Tylomelania Yellow Spot is separately sexual like all Sulawesi turreted snails. Males and females look the same, unfortunately it is not easy to tell them apart. For breeding the Tylomelania Yellow Spot we therefore recommend to buy a group of at least 5 Yellow Spot Tylomelania for the aquarium, so that the probability increases that both sexes are present. The females of the Yellow Spot Tylomelania each release a live young developed in their brood pouch at intervals of a few weeks. The young Tylomelania sp. "Yellow Spot" grow up without further problems in the freshwater aquarium. They can stay with their parents in the aquarium and do not need any special care as long as there is enough growth in the tank.
The Tylomelania Yellow Spot is a very peaceful and - in good conditions - also active snail. It can be ideally socialized with dwarf shrimps from the Old Lakes of Sulawesi, but also goes well with other dwarf shrimps in the aquarium and with peaceful small to medium sized ornamental fish. Please do not put them with snail eaters such as predatory snails, crabs or shrimp, or some fish.
The Tylomelania Yellow Spot is a typical aquatic snail. As an omnivore it likes to eat biofilms and algae growth, it takes care of dead plant parts and food remains and besides vegetables it likes to eat our special Snail feed from NatureHolic snail.
Although the Tylomelania Yellow Spot from its native Sulawesi is used to very special water values, it can be kept in the aquarium even with deviating values, provided that the pH value is neutral to slightly alkaline. The water should be rather medium hard to hard, the aquarium temperature should be 22 to 30 °C.
Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all growth-eating snails. Even delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not eat conventional food, can be fed up well with this paste.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.
