from over 3,000 reviews "The white-shear Towuki crab Syntripsa flavichela is a purely aquatic crab, it does not live on land and consequently does not require a land part. It comes from the Old Lakes on Sulawesi. The animals are brownish over purple to reddish, with light claw arms and dark claw tips. and white thickenings at the claw, which indicate their food: the White Claw Crab is specialized on snails, which it cracks with its hard and sharp claws without further ado. Even though Syntripsa flavichela is a purely aquatic crab, it should still be offered at least a perch above the water level . Like all crabs, the White Claw Crab Matano crab is an extremely skilled climber, so the tank should have a gapless cover. Females have a U-shaped abdominal apron, while that of males is in the shape of a large V.
The Matano White Scissor Crab grows to a medium size with a carapace width of up to 6 cm, but is quite active and therefore needs a correspondingly large aquarium with a side length of 80 cm or more. It can become several years old. Single keeping is possible, but since the animals are not overly aggressive within the species, a small group can also be kept in an appropriately large and well structured aquarium.
The females carry relatively large eggs under their abdominal flap, from which fully developed young crabs hatch after several weeks and survive in freshwater.
As previously stated, the Towuti white scissor crab specializes in snails as its primary food . Even thick-shelled snails such as trumpet snails are no problem for them, even mussels are cracked. A feeder snail culture with easy to propagate species like the post horn snail or the Malayan Turmdeckelschnecke is recommended. However, Syntripsa flavichela also likes to take crab food for carnivorous species, frozen food or protein food. It does not usually go for plants.
The White Claw Crab can also be socialized with larger fish that are not outright predators. It can also be kept with dwarf shrimps , provided the values are suitable. As a resident of the Old Lakes of Sulawesi, the Matano White Claw Crab prefers a fairly high pH and high water temperatures.
When transferring the White Claw Crab, it must be acclimated carefully and slowly to the new water values. Once it has settled in, it is relatively hardy
