Windeløv java fern - Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv' - Tropica plant on roots with suction cup

The beautiful java fern Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv' with the fringes on the leaf tips is named after Holger Windeløv, who founded the Tropica aquarium plant nursery in 1970. With its rather broad bottle-green leaves, it looks classy in the middle ground. Here, the java fern has been grown on a root that has a suction cup, allowing it to be easily attached to the glass pane inside. This gives surface-bound animals such as crayfish or shrimp (or crabs in an aquaterrarium or wet terrarium, where Javafarn can also be cultivated emersed, by the way), additional usable space.

Microsorum pteropus "Windeløv" is a plant from the tropics of Asia. It is found above and below water at the edge of bodies of water, where the fern grows on wood and boulders.

As a low-maintenance plant, Windelov Java Fern is attractive to beginners and advanced growers alike. It does not require much care, the fern does not need much light, not much fertilizer and does not need to be cut often.
