Glossostigma elatinoides is a somewhat demanding plant, but well worth the effort. In nature it is found in Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania, where it can be found emersed as well as submerged (above and below water) at floodplains and swamps. It needs good lighting (min. 0.5 W/l), a good nutrient supply with micro and macro nutrients and CO2 fertilization is very beneficial. If you offer it good conditions, this small remaining plant quickly grows together to a vivid carpet. It is very popular in nano aquariums but can also be found in large show tanks.

A pot is best divided into 4-6 portions and the individual clumps planted a few centimeters apart. However, plants planted singly will also grow very quickly into a wonderful groundcover. Glossostigma elatinoides reacts very quickly to iron deficiency by showing yellow and / or glazed leaves. This can be counteracted with appropriate iron fertilizer or complete iron fertilizer.
