The Yellow Fire Neon shrimp is a particularly pretty variety of the Neocaridina color variant Yellow Fire, bred for the first time in Germany. The Yellow Fire Neon differs from the yellow form by its very broad, conspicuous lemon yellow dorsal stripe, which can appear even in a few males. But also their golden-yellow body color is really pretty to look at and forms a nice contrast to the green and red of the plants, especially in planted aquariums. The color of the animals becomes more intense with age.
To give the shrimp babies a good start in life, we recommendBabyfeed.
Yellow Fire Neon Shrimps make themselves useful in the aquarium as residue recyclers and algae growth eaters . They graze biofilms and take care of dead plant parts and also dead animals. Thus, they play the important role of health police in the aquarium. In addition, of course, they also like to take a special Shrimp feed mainly plant-based food and a suitable protein food twice a week. Brown autumn leaves should always be present in the aquarium as permanent food. They like to graze on it.
As a peaceful group animal the Yellow Fire Neon Shrimp gets along well with other aquarium inhabitants such as peaceful small fish, snails and mussels, but also dwarf and large crabs as well as freshwater crabs - always provided that the demands on the water values match. You should start with a group of 10 to 20 shrimps of one species. If you want tosocialize the Yellow Fire Neon with other shrimp species or colors , you should consider a possible crossability.
The Yellow Fire Neon is very easy to breed . The females carry 20 to 40 golden yellow eggs under their pleon (the abdomen), from which independent, fully developed baby shrimp are released after about 3 to 4 weeks. In the species tank the offspring can stay with the parents, as the adult Yellow Fire Neon do not chase the young shrimp. In the community tank, the young need many hiding places in the form of fine plants or moss cushions. In order to maintain the color and also the distinctive dorsal stripe, the strain should beselected fromtime to time .
