As one of the largest biological filter media , the substrate in the aquarium is also an important foundation, because useful microorganisms are formed on it, which significantly contribute to improving water quality.
The fine grain size of 1-2 millimeters provides a secure hold for mussels in particular, but bottom burrowing snails also get their money's worth. Thanks to the rounded edges, the crystal quartz gravel is also ideal for bottom-dwelling fish such as armored catfish, which have very sensitive barbels that can easily injure them. The gravel is also hardness-free and therefore water-neutral. The water values are therefore not changed. The diamond black gravel also looks great with other gravel in a coarser order and also with hardscape such as roots or stones, which you can find in the store.
With a special nutrient substrate, such as our Ground Booster, which you can find in the store, you offer your plants an optimal medium for a magnificent growth. This slow-release fertilizer optimally supplies the plant roots with nutrients, thus ensuring strong root development and impressive colors. This enriches the water optimally with oxygen and even deprives algae of the food basis, which is why they are inhibited in their development, which is especially advantageous for newly set up tanks.
We recommend this substrate setup:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of special nutrient substrate or another nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of Dennerle crystal quartz gravel.
Before first use, the gravel should be washed out several times with cold water to remove abrasion caused by transport. By the way, you can find more colors in our store!
