This mix of 24 animals is suitable for nano aquariums from 20 liters.
Please note: Different color forms of Neocaridina davidi mix in subsequent generations when kept together. Here, sometimes quite interesting new varieties and patterns are created, but also some transparent or brownish-wild colored animals fall. With a bit of luck, the new variants can be used as a basis for a new breeding form - or you can simply enjoy the growing diversity in the mixed aquarium.
If you want to sell offspring from this mix, please inform your buyers that the animals come from a mix tank and may not be homozygous.
All color variants of Neocaridina davidi are adaptable and quite robust, also and especially concerning the water values. This makes them interesting animals especially for beginners with shrimps.
They will eat practically any food you offer them. In nature shrimps are omnivores and scavengers. Of course, shrimp food tailored to their needs is ideal, but brown autumn leaves are also eaten with pleasure, as well as algae coverings and biofilms of microorganisms. Even dead animals and dead plant parts are not stopped by these pretty dwarf shrimp, which makes them great health guardians in the aquarium. Protein food is needed by dwarf shrimp about twice a week, otherwise they like mainly food of plant origin.
These fire-colored groupers live together absolutely peacefully - after all, they are the same species, just in different colors. They can also be kept wonderfully together with other colors and species, provided that the demands on the water values fit. You can also keep the fire shrimp mix together with not too large, peaceful, not too lively fish, and also with dwarf and large crustaceans, snails and mussels. Even in the water part of aquaterrariums with freshwater crabs, the fire shrimp cut a good figure.
Breeding Neocaridina davidi is really not difficult. A female can carry 20 to 40 eggs attached to her swimming legs, which hatch into fully developed baby shrimp after three or four weeks, capable of living on their own from the start. They look like miniature versions of their parents. Since adult Neocaridina davidi do not chase their offspring, there is no need for a separate rearing tank. Hiding places like moss cushions, fine feathery plants or layers of brown foliage are very important for the juveniles, especially in a community tank with fish
