Madagascar lattice plant Aponogeton madagascariensis comes from the island of Madagascar, where it is endemic. It grows up to 50 cm high in the aquarium. Its lattice structure is unique in aquaristics and makes it an extremely popular solitary plant, but you can also set interesting accents in the background with the lattice plant.
In nature Aponogeton madagascariensis is found in rather cool flowing waters. In the aquarium it is not so easy to maintain. When its growth stops, it needs a resting period, which should last about four weeks. To do this, place it in an extra tank in a cool, dark place. After that, put it back into the aquarium. This resting period can be delayed by adding micronutrients and iron through the water column. Substrate too rich in nutrients is not well tolerated.
The vigorous tuber is placed in the aquarium where it will sprout its fascinating lattice-like leaves. Please do not bury completely!
