This Narrow-leaved Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus "Narrow") comes from the tropical streams of Asia, where it grows on stones and driftwood at the water's edge. With its beautiful narrow dark green leaves it looks great in the aquarium in the middle ground. Optimally, the narrow-leaved Javafarn is tied up as here on a piece of wood. This piece of root is also equipped with a suction cup and is simply attached to the aquarium glass. This way you can easily offer shrimps or dwarf crabs more surface to crawl and graze on.
Propagation of the slow-growing fern is not difficult, simply cut off a piece of the rhizome with a sharp knife. At least two leaves must remain on both the offshoot and the parent plant to ensure the plant's survival.
Also, the offshoot should not be planted - if the rhizome is covered with substrate, it may rot. However, lateral roots that grow into the soil are not problematic.
Even with little light, the narrow-leaved java fern still grows well, making it well suited for low-tech aquariums and even for terrariums with very high humidity
