The Bucephalandra species, endemic to Borneo, delight aquarists with incredible diversity. In most Bucen the species is not yet scientifically determined, so they still run as Bucephalandra sp. The medium green, white-spotted variety"Wavy Leaf" has a stronglywavy leaf margin, while the petioles and rootstock are reddish brown.
Similar to Anubias, groups of Bucephalandra are found in nature in areas that are partially flooded by high water and have strong currents, as well as in splash areas, such as next to small waterfalls. Their strong roots defy even a pronounced current.
Therefore, Bucephalandra sp. "Wavy Leaf" is best placed on stones or root wood in the aquarium. There the perching plants grow fast firmly. Initially, they can be tied up or fixed with superglue or a special cyanoacrylate-based plant adhesive. Please do not plant the Bucephalandra "Wavy Leaf" in the gravel, otherwise the rootstock may rot and the plant will die. If the lateral roots grow into the gravel by themselves, this will not be a problem.
Bucephalandra sp. "Wavy Leaf" is an uncomplicated plant with slow growth, which fits perfectly into nano aquariums or is optimal in larger aquariums and aquascapes for the greening of stone superstructures or root wood. Wavy Leaf does not need strong light and does not make any demands on the supply of CO2. If fertilized with carbon dioxide, it grows slightly faster than without. Wavy Leaf comes to flower under water. Gradually the plant forms an attractive cushion.
For propagation, separate a section of the rhizome with at least two leaves and tie it up separately.
"Wavy Leaf" fits optimally in a humid terrarium, where you can cultivate it emersely.
It is possible that in a new environment Bucephalandra "Wavy Leaf" will first shed all its leaves. To adapt to the new conditions, it will then sprout fresh.
All Bucephalandra varieties from Dennerle are not taken from nature, they are carefully grown in the nursery to conserve natural resources.
