Green dwarf shrimp are contrary to their name not always green, but also sometimes a little yellowish or brownish, but when they are green, then right. Here you will receive a pregnant female of this popular and long represented color variant of Caridina cf. babaulti in the hobby. The animals carry 50 to 80 rather small eggs on their swimming legs under the abdomen for about four weeks. They do not hatch into fully developed shrimp babies, but into relatively developed larvae that survive in freshwater. So they do not need an extra tank with salt water! The larval stage lasts only a few days, then the little ones molt and become the finished shrimp.
The larvae grow up best in mulched tanks with a well secured filter (please use the finest sponge, the larvae are really small), because they need microfine food. The baby shrimp will then happily eat Natureholic Babyfeed dust food. Please never keep egg-bearing females alone, but integrate them into a group of 10 to 15 dwarf shrimp of the same species.
In our main article description of the "Green Dwarf Shrimp" you will find more information about keeping and breeding this beautiful shrimp.
Our food recommendation: The soft Mainfeed Softpads from NatureHolic are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production process we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
