This mix of 24 animals in total is suitable for nano aquariums from 20 liters, but also for larger aquariums.
Please note: Different color forms of Neocaridina davidi can mix over time when kept in an aquarium. This mixture sometimes results in interesting new color varieties, and sometimes in transparent, wild-colored animals. New color variations can in turn form the basis for new breeding forms - or you can simply enjoy the increasing diversity in your mix aquarium.
If you give away offspring from this mix, please point out to the buyers that they come from an aquarium with other color forms and may therefore be mixed breeders.
The color forms of Neocaridina davidi are consistently quite robust and adapt relatively easily to different water values, which makes them interesting especially for beginners in shrimp keeping.
They accept practically everything as food, since they are not only omnivores, but also act as scavengers in nature. Shrimp food specially formulated according to their needs is of course ideally suited, but they will also eat biofilms of microorganisms and algae coverings. Dead animals, dead plant parts and fish food remains are also part of their diet. So it is fair to call them the health police in the aquarium! Twice a week dwarf shrimp should be fed with a suitable protein food. Otherwise, a predominantly vegetable diet is the order of the day. Brown autumn leaves are a recommended permanent food that can remain in the aquarium until eaten.
These rainbow-colored, peaceful group animals live together without problems. They are, after all, color strokes of a single species. They can also be kept together with other species or color forms, but the demands on the water values have to be considered. Small peaceful, not too curious fish are suitable for socialization as well as dwarf and large crabs, freshwater crabs, snails and mussels.
These dwarf shrimp reproduce very well, their breeding is really easy. The females attach 20 to 40 eggs to their swimming legs under the abdomen, and then after three to four weeks they release the baby shrimp. These are immediately viable on their own. Since they have no larval stages, they look like miniatures of their parents from the start. They are allowed to stay in the aquarium, the adults do not go to juveniles. However, if you keep the dwarf shrimp together with fish, hiding places in the form of moss cushions or similar are important, especially for the young animals.
