from over 3,000 reviews "Propagation: | possible in fresh water |
Water values: | soft |
Difficulty: | for advanced |
Origin: | German offspring |
Coloring: | red white |
Red Bees of the class K14 (Caridina logemanni) have very large white Maro-Ten spots and further white spots on the head carapace, which interrupt the red there so strongly that great patterns like smilies, little flowers, lightnings or other signs result. On the body the animals are mostly opaque white. These are German offspring (DNZ) from a Pure Line, which means that no completely white Snow Bees fall here, but only Red Bees.
These Red Bees of the class K14 grow up to three centimeters, but the males remain somewhat smaller and also slimmer.
If the environmental conditions suit them, Class K14 Red Bees reproduce quite well. Females carry between 20 and 40 eggs under the abdomen, attached to the swimming legs. The fully developed young survive in freshwater. They hatch after three to four weeks. The color pattern can still scatter, so some selection is necessary! Very young Red Bees move very little from the place where they hatched. Therefore, feeding dust food is highly recommended because it will arrive wherever there are potential juvenile shrimp. When doing this, feed small portions, but more often.
Like all Red Bees, K14 prefer cooler, very clean, soft water with carbonate hardness approaching zero. In tap water they can be kept and especially bred only in the rarest cases. The use of osmosis water with a mineral salt specially designed for bee and other soft water shrimp has proven to give the K14 Pure Line Bees the optimal water values. Neutral substrate or a soil substrate that softens the water and buffers the water values is advised. Decoration and substrate must not contain lime and harden the water. Changing 10 bs 30% water per week will usually carry out enough pollutants and bring in enough fresh water to keep the K14 healthy in the long run. A heater is usually not needed, cool temperatures are no problem for Red Bees. Below 16 °C the reproduction will stop, but this does not harm the shrimps. On the contrary, high temperatures above 25 °C are rather problematic, so in summer you should possibly install a cooling system at the tank.
Red Bee shrimps of class K14 are omnivores like all other bee shrimps, they like to graze e.g. biofilms and algae coverings. Brown autumn leaves are a classic shrimp food that is very healthy for the animals. A suitable protein food should be given twice to three times a week. Otherwise K14 Red Bees are very fond of mainly vegetable food.
A socialization with bee shrimp or Shadow Bees/Taiwan shrimp is very well possible, because these animals have the same requirements to the habitat. Attention, here can be mixed forms in the offspring! The Red Bee K14 can also be kept together with other shrimp species, if the water requirements match. With peaceful, not curious, very small fish or also with peaceful snails the Red Bee K14 can be well socialized. However, a species tank is always preferable especially with these nevertheless quite sensitive shrimps!
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft mainfeed softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as far as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
