from over 3,000 reviews "Water values: | soft to hard |
Difficulty: | for beginners |
Propagation: | possible in fresh water |
Coloring: | black |
Origin: | Abroad offspring |
This color variety of Neocaridina davidi is also suitable for beginners, because it is quite adaptable and robust. Different water values are tolerated relatively well.
The Gold Back Carbon Rili shrimp combines two characteristics. On the one hand it has the black colored head-breast carapace and the black colored abdomen of the Carbon Rili, but on the other hand it also has a beautiful gold colored broad dorsal stripe. This dorsal stripe is also interrupted by the transparent part in the middle of the animals body. Because the color parts are distributed differently, each Gold Back Carbon Rili has its individual pattern. The dorsal stripe is a characteristic of the females - only very rarely there are also male shrimps with dorsal stripe. As with all Neocaridina, the females of the Gold Back Carbon Rili shrimp are slightly larger than the males, about 3 cm.
These animals are very easy to breed. When the females carry eggs, you can see them very nicely under their abdomen due to the pattern of the Gold Back Carbon Rili shrimp. After three to four weeks of gestation, between 20 and 40 juvenile shrimp hatch and are immediately able to live independently and do not require brood care. Gestating females do not need to be placed in an extra tank for release, as the adult Gold Back Carbon Rilis do not chase their offspring. However, in a community aquarium with fish, pads of mosses or other fine-feathered plants are beneficial because the young will find cover from potential predators there.
Gold Back Carbon Rili Shrimp are peaceful group animals that get along well with other shrimp - provided the water conditions are suitable for both species. With other color varieties of the genus Neocaridina the animals can interbreed, which can lead to offspring of completely different colors, depending on the color variety. The Gold Back Carbon Rili can also be kept together very well with small fish that are not too hectic and curious or too predatory, as well as with crayfish, freshwater crabs, snails and mussels.
The Gold Back Carbon Rili shrimp is an omnivore and will happily take care of all types of algae and microfouling in the aquarium. They also like to eat uneaten fish food and dead plant parts. Of course, the animals also like to eat shrimp food specially adapted to their needs. Twice a week Gold Back Carbon Rili shrimp should be fed a suitable protein food . A very suitable permanent food is brown autumn leaves, which can remain permanently in the aquarium.
Our food recommendation: The soft Mainfeed Softpads from NatureHolic are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, where the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
