Taxiphyllum barbieri - Dennerle Portion

In the past, the moss imported as Java moss was Vesicularia dubyana, but today it has been replaced by the moss offered here Taxiphyllum barbieri, which is now known as Java moss. Vesicularia dubyana is now available again, but is often referred to as Singapore moss. A medium green, hardy and very adaptable moss, Taxiphyllum barbieri does not require much light, still growing satisfactorily even in the shade of larger plants. As far as water values, fertilization and temperature are concerned, Taxiphyllum barbieri is not a demanding moss.

Java moss is ideal in the foreground. Optimally, it is tied onto flat pebbles (or glued on with cyanoacrylate-based super glue), which makes placement easier. It also cultivates well on root wood or larger stones. Java moss forms adhesive organs and grows firmly on hard substrates very well.

With regular pruning, Taxiphyllum barbieri branches neatly and grows compactly. Propagation is easy: divide the portion or glue or tie up the shoots produced during pruning.

Taxiphyllum barbieri can also be used above ground in a terrarium that is kept permanently moist .
