Traditionally known as Echinodorus tenellus, often listed as Helanthium tenellum: the grass-like dwarf sword plant is an ideal ground cover plant for the foreground. This rosette-forming plant reproduces by runners (which was also the reason for its grouping in the genus Helanthium) and becomes really nice and dense over time.
Under strong lighting, the new growth of this grass-like sword plant in particular can take on a reddish hue.
Its great colors and maximum growth height of 10 cm make Echinodorus tenellus a really great choice for the foreground in small, medium and large aquariums. In nano tanks, it can also be placed in the middle ground or used as an accent plant in an otherwise very low foreground planting. Grass-like dwarf sword plant also looks very good as an interplanting between stones, where it grows especially densely.
A nutrient-rich substrate and intense lighting are extremely conducive to grass formation.
Laboratory grown in vitro Grasslike Dwarf Sword Plant is free of unwanted co-inhabitants, fertilizers and pesticides. Carefully rinse off the transparent culture medium and simply add the plants to your aquarium without quarantine - without negative consequences for the stock.
Since Helanthium tenellum reproduces by runners, it is very easy to form new groups - cut off the runners with sharp scissors, plant them, done. Every now and then the areas need to be thinned out a bit.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth, we recommend the Premium Nutrient Soil for the new setup NatureHolic GroundBooster
