The slow-growing Creeping Staurogyne (Staurogyne repens) is an extremely popular plant for aquariums and of course especially for aquascaping. This Staurogyne convinces with its beautiful bushy growth and its ovoid to lanceolate bright light green to medium green leaves. Its growth habit makes it a perfect plant for the middle ground in nano aquariums and for the foreground in larger tanks. It can be grown as a carpet by pruning or as a taller shrub. Creeping Staurogyne needs medium to strong light and thrives much better with CO2 added than without.
Natureholic InVitro plants grown in the laboratory have the advantage that they do not contain any harmful substances such as pesticides and, of course, no unwanted co-inhabitants. Therefore, this InVitro grown Staurogyne repens does not need to be watered before it is allowed into the aquarium. Simply rinse the culture medium carefully from the roots and plant it.
Staurogyne repens is a stem plant and can accordingly be propagated well by cuttings: Simply cut off a shoot about 3-5 cm long and stick it into the bottom of the aquarium. It quickly takes root and begins to grow.
For a low carpet-like growth, Staurogyne repens is cut back accordingly often with scissors. The plant tolerates pruning extremely well. If you want to grow taller bushes, you have to plan the intervals of pruning accordingly longer.
Staurogyne repens can also be grown very well in the terrarium and also in the Wabi Kusa at high humidity. In the emersed form, the stems are not green, but reddish-brown and relatively densely hairy, the leaves are somewhat darker in the land form of the Creeping Staurogyne.
