In its natural habitat in Australia, this plant grows in moist places, sometimes in the shallow water of ponds and lakes. The most striking feature is the beautifully shaped leaves in the form of a slit umbrella. Similar to Hydrocotyle species, the plant permanently forms stolon shoots. These usually creep along the substrate and form new leaf stems at the nodes. This gradually creates beautiful plant groups with a very ornamental appearance.
