This purple parrot leaf Alternanthera reineckii "purple" comes from tissue culture (In Vitro). It comes from the laboratory and is guaranteed free of pollutants and also does not bring any co-inhabitants. This parrot leaf has wine red to dark red (playing into olive green under less light) leaf tops and bright purple leaf undersides and stems. Under a lot of light the plant grows much more compact, CO2 fertilization helps with the color expression. In aquariums without CO2 fertilization, the colors are not quite as bright.
To propagate the purple parrot leaf, simply cut off a shoot and stick it in the ground as a scion. It quickly forms new roots.
