Red Bee Shrimp K10-14 - DNZ Caridina logemanni "Red Bee"
The beautiful Red Bee shrimp with its high pattern variability is the star of shrimp keeping par excellence. It is probably the most frequently kept high breeding shrimp at all. The pattern development in the juveniles is always exciting and many new breeding lines have already been created, all with the aim of creating new patterns, improving existing patterns or optimizing the color density and color distribution of the animals. Thanks to bee salt in combination with osmosis water, keeping Red Bee shrimp is no longer difficult even in regions with hard tap water, and for a long time now these shrimp have no longer been considered the delicate animals for specialists that they were at the beginning of their triumphal march through the world of aquaristics. Today, even a well-informed beginner can successfully keep and propagate red bee shrimp if a few basic things are observed. - Garnelio

Description

The Red Bee Shrimp is the high breeding form of the Crystal Red. It is very popular because of its beautiful red and white coloration and brings color to the aquarium. Females can reach up to 3.5 centimeters, while males remain smaller and more slender. Red Bees are old acquaintances in the invertebrate hobby, but it wasn't until December 2014 that the bee shrimp was first described as a species and given the name Caridina logemanni.

The Red Bee likes cool, very soft, slightly acidic, clean water. They can usually be kept for a while in tap water, but for the most part it is not suitable for long-term keeping and certainly not for breeding, as it is far too hard in most regions. The Red Bee is a soft water shrimp and tolerates only a very low carbonate hardness. It is best to keep the Red Bee shrimp in osmosis water, which is brought to the appropriate values with a hardening salt specially developed for bee shrimp. The use of an active Soil in the aquarium has proven itself many times. This Soil keeps the water values in a range that is optimal for Red Bee Shrimp. Of course, Red Bee Shrimp can also be kept on normal, neutral gravel - only the substrate must not harden up (just as little as the decoration). We advise a water change of 10 to 30% per week. The Red Bee Shrimp does not need heating, it feels comfortable at room temperature. In summer you should make sure that the water temperature does not exceed 25 °C.

With good keeping conditions the breeding of the Red Bee Shrimp is not so difficult. After three to four weeks of gestation, the female releases between 20 and 40 young from the eggs she has carried under her abdomen. The young of the Red Bee Shrimp resemble miniature versions of their parents. Since they are not very mobile at the beginning, they should be provided with a good dust food, which is distributed in the aquarium.

Red Bee shrimp are omnivores and scavengers. They therefore like brown autumn leaves, for example, which can be left in the aquarium as permanent food until they have decomposed. Two to three times a week we recommend the administration of a suitable protein food, so that the protein requirement of the Red Bee shrimps can be covered. Otherwise, they should be fed food of predominantly vegetable origin.

Red Bee Shrimp are often socialized with other colors of Bee Shrimp like Black Bee or Snow White. This is possible, but can lead to mixed forms like the so called Brownies. If you want to keep them together with other shrimps, you should make sure that the demands on the water values are more or less identical. Red Bee Shrimp can also be kept together with snails and possibly also very small, peaceful fish. Since they do not reproduce as fast as for example Neocaridina species, one should nevertheless consider carefully whether one would not like to give the shrimps a pure species tank. Under no circumstances should they be kept together with crayfish, predatory snails, freshwater crabs and mussels.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft mainfeed softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as far as possible.

Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
