Like Vesicularia dubyana, Taxiphyllum barbieri has become known as Java moss - Taxiphyllum barbieri gradually replaced the "true" Java moss, Vesicularia dubyana, in the 1970s. Taxiphyllum barbieri is undemanding and very variable in growth habit. It still grows satisfactorily even in very shady areas and under low lighting, and it does very well with a wide range of water values.
Not only in the foreground, but also tied up on roots and stones, it gives an aquarium a unique, very primordial flair.
Regular pruning allows Javamoos to grow very bushy. The cut moss fronds can be tied back or glued with cyanoacrylate to dry, solid surfaces. Moss fronds can also be propagated by simply dividing them.
This Taxiphyllum barbieri comes from InVitro culture, it is guaranteed free of pathogens, algae, parasites such as planarians and also snails. Free the moss from the gel-like culture medium before using it in the aquarium - rinsing is sufficient.
