Bucephalandra spec. "Apple Leave" - Rarity Nano perching plant
Bucephalandra "Apple Leave", unlike many other bucen, has a relatively smooth, non-wavy leaf edge. Its beautiful dark green color looks great in the middle ground and works especially well as a contrast against lighter green plants. It can be used to create beautiful accents on roots or rock outcrops. Together with other Bucephalandra, the different leaf shapes also create great, very natural-looking effects. - Garnelio

Description

The smooth-edged leaves of the new Bucephalandra sp. "Apple Leave" are a dark blue-green with a few light spots. The oval, bluntly tapered leaves are somewhat bent downward and are somewhat reminiscent of the leaves of an apple tree in shape. Many species from the genus Bucephalandra are not exactly determined, which is why they go under the name Bucephalandra sp.

Bucephalandra from Borneo are perching plants found in very similar biotopes as Anubias. In nature they often sit on stones in spray water areas and are partially or even completely flooded. This can expose them to very strong currents, which is why they have strongly adherent roots. In the aquarium, the plants also grow fast on hard substrates, which is why they only need to be fixed with a thread or a cyanoacrylate-based glue in the early days.

Bucephalandra sp. "Apple Leave" is extremely frugal and grows quite slowly. It needs only little light, can also stand in the shade of other plants and grows somewhat faster with CO2 fertilization, but does not necessarily need it. It even comes to bloom under water in the aquarium and forms a visually very attractive group over time.

If you want to propagate your Bucephalandra sp. "Apple Leave", take a sharp pair of scissors and cut off a piece of the rootstock covered with at least two leaves. Then tie this piece up in another spot.

Do not plant Bucephalandra "Apple Leave" in the aquarium bottom to prevent the rhizome (rootstock) from rotting. The roots growing on the sides may sink into the substrate over time, this is not problematic. Ideally, Bucephalandra sp. "Apple Leave" should be allowed to grow on roots or even attached to rocks.

"Apple Leave" also comes into its own wonderfully in a terrarium with high humidity, ideally for example also next to a waterfall or a nebulizer.

It is possible that Bucephalandra "Apple Leave" will shed its leaves completely after arrival, as it adapts to the new environmental conditions. It will resprout relatively soon, so don't panic... The new leaves may look slightly different, and their shape will depend on the light levels in the new environment.

Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.

Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and uncomplicated on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
