Often named Echinodorus quadricostatus, this rosette plant has now been identified as Helanthium bolivianum "quadricostatus". This grass-like sword plant for the foreground forms beautiful dense lawns thanks to its runners (because of which it is also placed in the genus Helanthium). They need to be thinned out a bit every now and then if the plants are too dense. You can plant the resulting runners elsewhere and thus propagate your Echinodorus / Helanthium very easily.
With good nutrient supply and especially with sufficient iron, Helanthium bolovianum "quadricostatus" is a great, very strong and vigorous ground cover aquarium plant. The beautiful green leaflets are slightly wider than those of Helanthium tenellum.
Its maximum growth height of 5-10 cm makes Helanthium bolivianum "quadricostatus", formerly known as Echinodorus quadricostatus, a perfect choice for the aquarium foreground, this applies to small, medium and large aquariums. In small aquascapes and in nano tanks, this grass-like sword plant also fits very well in the middle ground as an accent plant. This sword plant also looks optimal between stones as a gap filler.
