Lysimachia nummularia - NatureHolic InVitro

Native to our country, pennywort c is a fascinating plant that can be planted in the aquarium, in rather cooler terrariums, in the garden pond, at the edge of the pond, as well as in the garden or on the balcony in a tub or box. The terrestrial form doesn't need it particularly moist at all, but it copes excellently with wet feet, for example at the edge of the pond. In the emersed form, the pennywort blooms beautifully in the spring, the flowers are relatively large and yellow. The terrestrial form has prostrate shoots that grow creeping along the bottom.

In the aquarium under water Lysimachia nummularia also keeps permanently, the plant just does not like it too warm. The submerged form grows upright and reaches a height of about 40 cm. The leaflets are relatively round.

The pennywort has been in the aquarium hobby forever, the plant is easy to care for and hardy and can cope with many different conditions.

Lysimachia nummularia is propagated by cuttings. To do this, use sharp scissors to separate a shoot in the upper third and simply stick it in the ground. It will take root in a short time. You can also rejuvenate overstory crops in this way - simply cut off the top, discard old stems, plant the cut young shoots, and the group will look beautiful again.
