Cryptocoryne wendtii "Compact" is - as the name suggests - a form of Wendt's water lily that stays small. With a growth height of only 10-15 cm, this aquarium plant is also perfect for nano tanks. Here it is preferably planted in the middle ground, in larger aquariums rather in the foreground. But it is also an optimal choice for a tiered design in larger tanks, for example. Its attractive dark green to olive green leaves, which are chocolate brown when they emerge, look beautiful in the shade of roots or as a contrast to light green background plants. This Cryptocoryne is also well suited as a ground cover in the foreground of large aquariums, in which case it should receive at least medium light so that it stays nice and small and does not grow too tall.
Cryptocoryne wendtii "Compact" grows slowly and is therefore very easy to care for. It does not require strong lighting or fertilization with a CO2 system.
Cryptocoryne wendtii "Compact" reproduces by daughter plants that it sprouts from the rootstock. They can be detached to propagate the plant and planted elsewhere.
Cryptocoryne wendtii "Compact" is also easy to grow above the water table. The land form has reddish leaves. It fits very well in terrariums, aquaterrariums and paludariums with high humidity and rather moist substrate.
Due to the breeding method alone, this water lily is snail-free and algae-free from the start. Like all in vitro grown plants this Cryptocoryne wendtii "Kompakt" is harmless for shrimps, a quarantine is not needed. Before planting the Cryptocoryne in the aquarium, you should carefully remove the nutrient medium from the roots, preferably under a fine stream of water.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new set up the Premium Nutrient Medium NatureHolic GroundBooster.
