from over 3,000 reviews "The Yellow Guinea Snail is a still undetermined Tylomelania species from the Old Lakes on Sulawesi, also known as Tylomelania sp. This beautiful snail is a real highlight in almost every aquarium. While the shell itself is medium brown and interestingly sculpted, the head and antennae of the snail are bright yellow with fine black stripes. Whitish discolorations in the upper third are due to natural wear. This does not harm the snail, such wear is completely natural.
The yellow guinea fowl snail grows to a length of 5 to 6 centimeters. It is separately sexual, but males and females cannot be told apart by externally visible characteristics. For breeding we recommend a larger group of at least 5 guinea fowl snails. The females release a live young every few weeks, which has previously developed in their brood pouch. The young develop in fresh water and grow up in the aquarium without further intervention of the keeper.
Basically, the yellow guinea fowl snail is considered very peaceful and active. It can be socialized with other invertebrates and ornamental fish without any problems, provided they do not eat snails.
As an omnivore, it feeds mainly on dead plant parts and food remains, but vegetables and catfish tablets are also eaten with great pleasure.
Although it comes from the Old Lakes with its very special water, it can tolerate a much wider range of water values than shrimp from this part of the world. The pH should be above neutral, and it likes rather medium to hard water with a temperature of 22 to 30 °C.
Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Also delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not go to conventional food, can be fed up well with it.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.
