Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" (also known as Rotala sp. colorata) stands out for its beautiful red color, which it assumes even in medium light. In particular, the shoot tips of this Rotala species turn red, and even orange to pink under strong light. Rotala rotundifolia is native to Asia.
The stem plant Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" grows slightly curved: Its shoots grow in an overhanging arching shape, which is very effective and adds a very interesting aspect to an aquascape or planted aquarium. With a length of 20 to 80 cm, this Rotala grows quite tall and thus fits very well into the background in the aquarium. Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" grows well under medium to strong light, CO2 fertilization is necessary for this great aquarium plant to fully display its beautiful colors.
Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" shows rapid growth in the aquarium under good conditions. Since it absorbs many nutrients, it is a strong competitor to pesky algae, it can thus be used to prevent algae plagues.
Natureholic InVitro plants are grown in the laboratory and basically without pesticides. With these plants you will also not get any uninvited guests like algae, snails or worms into your aquarium, therefore you can plant our NatureHolic Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" directly into your aquarium without quarantine. Please wash away the growing medium under running water before planting.
The lower third becomes relatively unsightly over time in the aquarium with stem plants due to a lack of light, so from time to time stem plant groups should be rejuvenated. To do this, cut off the upper part with sharp scissors, remove the old parts of the plant from the tank and put the cut cuttings in the old place. Quickly the group of plants establishes itself, sprouts roots and begins to grow again.
Rotala rotundifolia "Colorata" is also propagated via cuttings. To do this, simply cut off a side shoot and insert it into the soil elsewhere in the aquarium.
