from over 3,000 reviews "A very pretty aquarium snail is the yellow lava snail Faunus ater. The species is very widespread in Southeast Asia. There are several color variations of this genus, which consists of only one species. The Yellow Lava Snail has a yellow to light orange, partially dark pigmented body and a long, tapered dark colored shell. It grows to eight centimeters in length.
In nature, high population densities of these snails are often found in the lower reaches of larger rivers and also in estuaries in brackish water. There they often live on mud, and in the aquarium they are grateful for a sandy corner.
The Yellow Lava Snail, like all variants of Faunus ater, is separately sexual, but males and females cannot be distinguished. Mating occurs in the aquarium, and females also lay eggs. Veliger larvae hatch, which require brackish or even seawater to grow to maturity. Captive breeding has not yet been successful.
The Yellow Lava Snail is a very peaceful snail, and it gets along with all other peaceful inhabitants in the aquarium. Snail eaters are naturally excluded for socialization.
Also with the food the yellow lava snail is very uncomplicated. Faunus ater will eat just about anything - vegetables, tablet food, snail food, greens, algae coverings, dead plants ... it will not go for live plants.
Although all commercially available Faunus ater are wild specimens, they have proven to be very uncomplicated and persistent . They adapt very quickly to new conditions in the aquarium.
Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Also delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not go to conventional food, can be well fed up with it.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
Actively prevent outbreaks: With the revolutionary Natureholic Snail Barrier you minimize in the simplest way the escape and the danger of injury of your snails from aquariums without cover. With just a finger swipe you apply the paste on the upper inner panes, snails will turn around at this invisible barrier and climb back into the aquarium.
