Willis' water lily, Cryptocoryne x willisii, is a so-called natural hybrid, hence the "x" in its name. The leaves of this shade plant for aquarium are rather narrow, long and tapered, their upper side is medium green. This water lily grows about 20 cm tall, making it great for the middle ground. Cryptocoryne x willisii is a relatively undemanding aquarium plant that grows quite slowly and therefore requires little maintenance.
Cryptocoryne x willisii also grows in rather shady areas in the aquarium, close to decoration like stones or roots and also adjacent to taller stem plants.
Cryptocoryne x willisii reproduces slowly by stolons, making it fairly easy to propagate, although the plant is not particularly prolific. The runners are cut off using sharp scissors and replanted elsewhere.
Willis' Water Calyx can also grow above water in a very humid environment, the plant fits perfectly in a paludarium, wet terrarium or aquaterrarium. The land form of this Cryptocoryne will grow about 5 inches taller than the underwater form.
As an in vitro plant, this water carnation is safe to use immediately for the aquarium. This aquarium plant is guaranteed free of algae, snails and pathogens. Simply rinse the clear growing medium off the roots and get started.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new set up the Premium Nutrient Medium NatureHolic GroundBooster.
