The Super Tiger shrimp differs from the classic tiger shrimp by the distinct yellow to orange colored rostrum and tail fan. In addition, their about five to seven black stripes are quite wide compared to ordinary tiger shrimp. It is not a breeding form, but occurs so in nature. With a size of up to three centimeters, the Super Tiger Shrimp grows slightly larger than most dwarf shrimp species, with the males remaining smaller.
Super Tiger Shrimp live in habitat in very soft, clean, oxygen-rich and slightly acidic water. They also feel comfortable in the aquarium at a KH of 0 to 1, the GH may be slightly higher at 6 to 7. Tap water rarely has such values, so you may have to switch to osmosis water and a special hardening salt for soft water shrimp (bee salt). Super Tiger shrimp do not tolerate temperatures above 25°C well, so you may need to cool the aquarium in the summer.
Super Tigers reproduce well if conditions are suitable for them. After three to four weeks the females release between 20 and 40 young, which are independent immediately after hatching. The older animals hardly chase the offspring. The young animals are not very agile at the beginning and therefore need a dust food, which is distributed in the aquarium and reaches them in any case.
The Super Tiger Shrimp is a group animal, so we recommend an initial stocking of 10 to 20 animals. If you socialize them with other shrimp species, it is important to make sure that the animals have similar demands on the water values. With not too curious, small and peaceful fish you can socialize the Super Tiger Shrimp just as well as with snails.
In the wild, Super Tiger Shrimp mainly eat scraps and growth, and as omnivores they are not picky about food in the aquarium. They are very fond of green food such as nettle, walnut leaves or spinach, but they also accept frozen food and shrimp food specially adapted to their needs without any problems. It is advisable to give a protein food 2 to 3 times a week, the rest of the week food with a high vegetable content is appropriate. Brown autumn leaves belong anyway in every invertebrate aquarium as a very well tolerated permanent food.
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft mainfeed softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, where the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
